I'm going Banananas!!!! B, A, N, B-A-N a NANA!

Up until last year, I wouldn't have spared a second thought about bananas, except to say that they are the only fruit I like (so does that mean there MUST be something wrong with them if I like them???)

In Australia, with severe storms destroying many banana crops in 2006, there was a rather drastic shortage on the market for bananas. The price of bananas went through the roof, costing as much as $15 a kilogram or more. A single banana was sometimes as much as $2.

I tried to order a banana smoothy last year and the shop told me it was off the menu because bananas were too expensive.

They became like the new 'gold' .........
