Below are the premises on which this adventure into the realm of difficult decisions and their foreseen and unforeseen consequences is built. Please read it at your leisure. More premises will emerge as the various story lines unfold.
You are a 33-year-old woman with a decent job as a resident environmental consultant with a medium-sized firm in the city. Your name is Kate Locksley; you are 1.75 m tall, with auburn hair. You live in a suburb reasonably close to the city center with your partner Paul and your cat Charlie. Paul is a 40-year-old migration lawyer. Although you no longer feel for Paul what you felt in the first years of your relationship you are content and you feel that your life together has matured. After trying to fall pregnant for nearly two years you and Paul have finally decided to enter the IVF program.
