Otto Von Bismarck has just resigned under pressure from the irresponsible and inept King Vilhelm II, who had just ascended the throne in Germany. The year was 1890. The man who had simultaneosly crafted and juggled multiple alliances that had carefully preserved multipolar Europe was gone, and with him went Peace. In only a matter of decades, Europe would be embroiled in a sweeping general war which would make men swear off war forevermore. (but men never learn, do they?) Currently, however, the prospect of war was furthermost from most men's minds, as they went about their everyday lives.
You are a German Diplomat, now in the service of King Vilhelm II. you are a time-traveller, originally from the Year 2020. But no-one except you know that- you have kept your secret carefully under wraps, even from your beloved wife. You hold in your hands the power to make a difference in history, with your knowledge of the future, and perhaps even make World War I a mistake mankind never even committed. But the question is, what will you do with such a power?
For whoever controls the past controls the present. And whoever controls the present controls the future.
For as crisis after crisis approaches, you will have to make crucial decisions that span continents, centuries and that affect the future of mankind.
You have heard rumours that relations between the French and Russians are warming up, and your historical knowledge (remember, you hail from the future) tells you that this will culminate in the 1891 Franco-Russian Alliance, spelling the doom for Bismarck's carefully cultivated balance-of-power strategy. You know that in order to stem the tide and change Germany's fortune, you will have to get in immediate contact with your French and Russian counterparts. However, the Kaiser frowns you cultivating Germany's foreign relations, as he believes that Germany is only taking what is rightfully hers. Furthermore, he wants you to stay in Germany to help him tide over a donestic scandal he has got himself embroiled in. This scandal is huge, and could spell the political death of the ruling dynasty in Germany.
