It was an hot day as usual and the sun gazed from a cloudfree sky, when Lieutenant Anderson strode across the dusty yard towards the shabby buildings where the experimental soldiers were kept. "Hello Sgt. don't you remember how to honour your superiors?", he barked at the big sergeant that was guarding the building with the help of a couple of heavy armed soldiers. "Oh, it's you Sir, I'm sorry Sir, but I didn't notice you Sir", the sergeant said.

"Hmm.. It happens a bit often that your aren't respectful enough Sgt. Scolletti, I have begun to wonder if you really are of the very best material that our troops are made of. Well I won't get you kicked on your ass, actually I won't even punish you, this time, and this time only. If you don't beginn to behave as you should, I promise that I will personally hit every teeth in your mouth into small pieces!", Lt. Anderson shouted into the face of the big man.

He was irritated, and that because the experiment with making the troops better and more effective in battle had failed, it hadn't just failed, it had failed really badly. His men, 50 men at total, the best of Tango Company, were all in the experiment. It hadn't been his idea, and so he had resisted it but his superiors had ordered the operation, and then he hadn't have other choises than listen and obey orders. The troops had been doped with different kinds of drugs in half an year now, and they had just been in their first battle, an attack at an guerilla in South America. It had ended in a catastrophy, 20 of his men were killed, and guerilla wasn't destroyed. Now he was back at the military base in the desert with his troops, only 30 had survived, and five of them had died in overdoses at the base.

"Well Sgt. how are my men today?" Anderson asked Scolletti. "They are mostly fine Sir, with all respect Sir, but there are some cases that are rather bad, for example lance corporal Sandiego is getting a bit mad, or should I say it like, he isn't capable of fulfilling his duty, he believes everybody of trying to do him in, he just isn't the same man as he used to be".

That had been a sad year in Tango Unit, half of the unit had died, and the rest was in bad condition, in fact he had to dismiss most of the men, so that there finally wasn't many more left than he and Sgt Scolletti, and a few privates, one of which was the very charming young lady private Cafelnakov.

He had been very charmed by her, but she wasn't interested in him, she was more after Sgt. Scolletti and that hadn't made any good for the tensions between him and Scolletti. Scolletti had left the army next year because of his marriage with an young waitress and Lt. Anderson had stayed in the army until the late 90's when Sgt. Scolletti had returned and messed everything up. Anderson had left the army when Scolletti and Cafelnakov had tried to involve him in their drug business, they had been dealing drugs from the army deposites to ex-soldiers with drug-addiction.

That had made Anderson mind up, and he had sought himself to the policeforce in Melbourne.
